“The Raven” – analyzing a poem
Some exercises aimed to analazy "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe. I did not include the text of the poem itself so you'll have to find it on the Internet.
Task
1) Students listen to the recited poem. Get them to answer the following questions:
Where is the lyrical I? (chamber)
What is the atmosphere of the poem? (scary, sad, etc.)
Are there any names mentioned? (Lenor)
Are there any animals? (the raven)
2) Distribute the wordle based on the poem and futher analyze the text using the word cloud.
3) If students still have problems understanding the text, read out the summary.
As a follow-up activity ask students to write their own poem. You can help them by giving them prompts on the whiteboatd, such as: once, when, I glanced, I wandered, etc.
