“Mystery in London” - interactive reading

Shared by Anonymous

Mystery in London is an easy reader for elementary students of English. It is a detective story in which YOU decide what happens next. The story is divided into 35 parts. Having read one part students have to decide which part they’d like to read next. Look down and read the two excerpts to get the grasp of it… The objective of reading all this is quite obvious. You have to find the killer. :)

Ideas

The text of Mystery in London that I’ve submitted is in plain text so you can use it in whatever way you feel like. As a lead-in I underlined some words in the first part of the story. Just read out these words and ask learners to speculate about the story.

As for the main task, I found out that it is a nice idae to put all the 35 parts one the walls (youll need a big room, granted) and tell learners that they have to find the killer. Then they walk around the classroom, choose the parts they want to read until finally they find the killer (or not - it is also one of the options). The first person to catch the killer gets a “Best Detective” badge…
