Iceland – guessing game
It is a simple yet fun guessing game. Read out these 5 sentences to your students. Tell them that they all describe one place. After you've read out each sentence pause for a few seconds so that your students can write their guess in their notebooks.
When you have finished, ask Ss to read out their 5 guesses. The person who guessed the correct answer earliest, is the winner. The answer is: Iceland.
Extra task: distribute the text and ask students to underline phrases refering to the future (I've underlined them for you below).
Task
- The flight from London should take about three hours.
- It's unlikely to be very hot, even though we're going in summer, but there will be many hours of daylight.
- We're looking forward to catching and eating our own salmon and trout and we're hoping to do some bird-watching, too: the island is home to many seabirds.
- We'll also be swimming in pools filled with water from natural hot springs.
- We're bound to enjoy it - we both love out-of-the-way-places.
