Iceland – guessing game

It is a simple yet fun guessing game. Read out these 5 sentences to your students. Tell them that they all describe one place. After you've read out each sentence pause for a few seconds so that your students can write their guess in their notebooks.

When you have finished, ask Ss to read out their 5 guesses. The person who guessed the correct answer earliest, is the winner. The answer is: Iceland.

Extra task: distribute the text and ask students to underline phrases refering to the future (I've underlined them for you below).

Task

    1. The flight from London should take about three hours.
    2. It's unlikely to be very hot, even though we're going in summer, but there will be many hours of daylight.
    3. We're looking forward to catching and eating our own salmon and trout and we're hoping to do some bird-watching, too: the island is home to many seabirds.
    4. We'll also be swimming in pools filled with water from natural hot springs.
    5. We're bound to enjoy it - we both love out-of-the-way-places.
