Pancakes are the favourite food on this day. For this reason it is often referred to as Pancake Day. Historically, both meat and eggs were forbidden throughout Lent, so the tradition was to eat all meat on Monday and all eggs on Tuesday before it started. The eggs were eaten in pancakes and this practice still remains. One of the main customs of this day is the pancake race, in which contestants have to run while tossing pancakes.   1. Read the text below about important days and customs connected with Easter. Match each day from the box with the correct paragraph (a-g).

  2. Now put the paragraphs into chronological order. The first one has been done for you.

  3. Check how much you can remember atlout Easter. Without looking at the text again, complete the sentences

  4. Walk around the classroom and ask questions to find somebody who:

  5. The most important food at Easter is eggs. But do you know how they can be prepared? These egg dishes have been wrongly matched to the methods. Put the egg dish with the correct method.
