Since 1998, the use of broadcast TV has fallen sharply, going down from 950 to under 600 hours in just seven years. This figure levelled off slightly in 2002 with a decline of just 30 hours compared to a sharp fall of 70 hours the following year and reaching an all-time low of under 600 hours per year by 2004.




Tasks

  1. Look at the graph and read the two descriptions. Label the two lines they refer to.

  2. Complete the description of the third line, as in the examples. Often more than one answer ispossible.

  3. Read the text on advertising and the media and match the underlined words with the phrases in the table. If necessary, use a dictionary.

  4. Below is a table with information on advertising spending in the UK by media sector. Choose one type of media and prepare a graph.

  5. Present your graph to the other students using the language in exercises 1to 3. Remember to use as many different phrases in your description as possible.
