Conceptual metaphors

To show my students how unaware we are of our brain functioning I’ve created this little worksheet with examples of various conceptual metaphors and their explanations.


Learners just have to match names of the metaphors with their examples. The metaphors are:

• knowing is seeing

• time is money

• words are weapons

• darkness is a cover

• effects of humor are injuries

• affection is warmth

• emotions are physical forces
