“Bars vs Pubs – US vs UK” reading

Procedure

  • Ss are divided into 3 groups. One group gets a reading passage about bars in California, another group gets a reading passage about pubs in Britain. The third group gets nothing.

  • Ss from group 1 and 2 read the text and try to remember as much as they can.

  • Ss walk around the room and talk. The job of group 1 and 2 is to present learners from group three with information they just read.

  • Ss do a follow-up task where they find words and phrases in the two texts for given definitions.
