“Web research task” – lesson idea
Shared by Mark
Some of us are lucky to have computers in our classrooms. Being able to use a computer lab can be a real blessing when you simply have no idea for a fun and motivating lesson.
Basically, the most obvious idea for using computers in the classroom is “web research task”. The Internet is a big encyclopedia where you can find almost everything.
Some ideas
Buying your favourite home: You have $900 000 (or any other amount of money). You have fifteen minutes to find the best, most beautiful, most unusual, most desirable home you can. At the end of the time, students should briefly show others their choice (on screen or printed – it’s good to have a LAN printer on so that students can print the websites themselves) – and the class can choose their favorite.
Note: The property must be actually for sale, at the moment – not “to let” or “sold” or owned by someone.
Web Search key words: just ask your learners to google: real estate with the location added, e.g. “real estate New York”, “real estate Egypt” or “real estate London”.
