This good-looking worksheet explains time zones in the US. As an introduction you could ask your students why we change the time. After all there must be some pretty good reason behind it. Besides, depending on the age of your students it might be necessary to contrast GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) with UTC (Coordinated Universal Time).
