Excerpt
There are four time zones in the 48 contiguous (touching) U.S. states. The time zones are called Pacific Time, Mountain Time, Central Time, and Eastern Time.
California is in the Pacific time zone (PT).
New York and Washington, D.C. are in the Eastern time zone (ET).
It is three hours earlier in California than in New York.
California: 9:00 A.M. = New York: 12:00 noon
The map shows the states of the United States and their time zones.
Alaska and Hawaii have their own different time zones.
